How do I charge my Petloc8 ?

To charge your Petloc8 device, use the 2-pin magnetic charging cable included in the box. Attach the magnetic end to the gold pins on the back of the tracker—if it doesn’t snap on easily, try flipping the cable. Then plug it into a USB port or power adapter. For optimal battery performance, charge the device for about 4–5 hours; the light will stop blinking and turn solid once it is fully charged.

Do I need to buy a SIM card for my Petloc8?

No, you do not need to buy a SIM card. Petloc8 comes with a built-in international SIM card that works with GSM cellular data. It is ready to use once activated—simply choose a subscription plan in the app to get started.

Is Petloc8 waterproof?

Petloc8 is water-resistant with an IP67 rating, meaning it can handle rain, splashes, and sweat. However, we do not recommend submerging the device in water, especially for extended periods, as this may cause damage.

Is my pet safe with Petloc8?

Yes, your pet is safe with Petloc8. The device is designed to give you peace of mind by providing real-time GPS tracking, allowing you to view your pet’s location anytime on your mobile device or PC. With reliable coverage and smart alerts, you can find your pet instantly, wherever they are.

How accurate is the Petloc8?

Petloc8 is accurate within 5-10 meters, however other factors can affect the accruacy; remote locations, bad weather, dense trees or forest. Please take into account that the deivce needs to be able to trasmit data back to the cloud and requires a unobstructed field of view for the best results.

What do the lights on my Petloc8 mean?

After pressing the power button for 3 seconds; all lights, followed by solid green – Petloc8 is starting up.
Pulsing red – Petloc8 is activating.
After pressing the power button for 3 seconds; solid red – Petloc8 is powering off.
Quick flashing green – Petloc8 is in real-time tracking mode.
Flashing red – Petloc8’s battery level is low.
After a single press of the power button; green – Petloc8 is on and connected to a network.
After a single press of the power button; red – Petloc8 is on and not connected to a network.
Flashing with a blue light – Petloc8 is in Battery saver mode.
While your Petloc8 is charging:

Steady red – Petloc8 is charging and is not yet full.
Steady green – Petloc8 has reached full charge.
All lights sequentially – Firmware update is in progress.
All lights on and steady – Firmware has been updated.

Why do I need the Petloc8 App?

You need the Petloc8 app as the control center for your device. It allows you to activate the tracker, purchase a subscription, and manage settings. Through the app (or by logging in on a PC via https://app.petloc8.com/), you can view your pet’s location, receive notifications, customize tracking modes, and monitor activity.

How many Petloc8 devices can I add to my Petloc8 App account?

You can add as many Petloc8 devices as you want to your account. However, each device requires its own separate active subscription to function properly.

How do I unlink a device from my account?

If you would like to unlink a device from your account, please contact Petloc8 support at support@petloc8.com. For security and privacy reasons, devices cannot be moved between accounts without verification, so our team will assist you with the process.

How to join Petloc8 Community?

Joining the Petloc8 Community is easy. Once you create an account and log into the app, you’re automatically part of our global network of pet owners. From there, you can view and join available communities and access features like Lost Pet Alerts to connect with nearby users.

Do I need to buy a subscription?

Yes, a subscription is required to activate and use the Petloc8 device. It covers the cellular data costs needed for GPS tracking features such as real-time location updates, geofencing, and location history, ensuring you stay connected to your pet at all times.

How can I buy a subscription?

You can purchase a subscription when activating your device in the app, where you’ll be prompted to select and pay for a plan. If you buy from our website, you can choose your subscription at checkout and will receive an activation code by email to enter in the app. If you purchased the device from a reseller like Amazon, simply download the Petloc8 app and follow the setup prompts to select and purchase your plan. Devices bought with pre-paid time will not require payment during activation, which is ideal for gifting.

Will my subscription be renewed automatically?

Yes, your subscription renews automatically to prevent any interruption in tracking. It is billed at the end of each period using your saved payment method. You can cancel or turn off auto-renewal anytime through the app or by contacting support, and for long-term plans, you will receive email reminders before renewal.

Can I change my form of subscription payment?

Connectivity & Coverage Issues

What to do if the Device is Powered Off?

If your device is powered off, it may have been turned off manually or due to low battery. To turn it back on, press and hold the power button for 3 seconds until the lights flash or a green light blinks, indicating it is powered on. If it doesn’t turn on or shows a red light, charge the device for about 2 hours (red means charging, green means fully charged). Once powered on, the app should display “Online” within a minute.

What to do if the GPS Signal has been lost?

GPS signals are typically lost when a pet is indoors or under heavy cover. To reconnect, move the device outside to an open area with a clear view of the sky. If the signal doesn't return, simply restart the device and check the app for an updated location.

What to do if the GSM Cell Coverage not avalible?

GSM coverage is lost when the cellular signal is too weak. Move the device to an area with better reception to allow it to reconnect and send data. If it stays offline, restart the tracker and confirm your subscription is active.

Battery Life & Tracking Modes

What are the battery life expectations?

Petloc8's battery lasts up to 7 days depending on your settings: Performance Mode (3 days), Everyday Mode (5 days), or Power Save Mode (7 days). You can check your current battery level anytime in the Petloc8 app. Please note that weather conditions can also affect battery life, extreme hot or cold temperatures may cause the battery to drain faster than usual.

What is Normal Tracking Mode and how does it work?

Normal Tracking Mode updates your pet's location every few minutes, depending on your chosen interval, to provide consistent updates while preserving power. This mode balances reliable tracking with longer battery life for daily use

What is Live Tracking Mode and how does it work?

Live Tracking Mode provides real-time, second-by-second updates so you can see your pet's exact movements as they happen. This mode is perfect for active search situations or when you need immediate location accuracy. Because it uses more power, it is best used for short periods to ensure your battery stays charged.

What is Battery Saver Mode and how does it work?

Battery Saver Mode extends your battery life by reducing the frequency of location updates.

How long does Petloc8's battery last in each of the tracking modes?

The battery life of the Petloc8 Standard lasts up to 14 days, while the Mini version typically lasts up to 7 days. These estimates vary based on your selected tracking frequency, with Performance Mode using the most power and Power Save Mode lasting the longest. To significantly extend battery life, we recommend setting up a Wi-Fi Zone so the device can enter a low-power state while your pet is at home.

What is real-time tracking and how does it work?

Real-time tracking provides location updates every 3 to 5 seconds for maximum precision when actively searching for your pet. Because this mode uses significant power, it will automatically turn off after a set period to preserve your battery life.

How often is my dog’s location updated in each of the tracking modes?

Location updates vary by mode, ranging from Power Save every 2 hours to Performance Mode every 5 minutes. For immediate pinpointing, Real-Time Tracking provides updates every 3 to 5 seconds. Please note that all update frequencies are subject to local network connectivity.

Location & Geofence Zones

Why can indoor location be inaccurate, and how can I improve it?

Indoor Location Inaccuracy occurs when the device is used indoors, where walls and roofs can block GPS signals and prevent the app from updating. To improve accuracy and save battery while inside, we recommend setting up a Wi-Fi Zone.

What are the Geofence zones?

Geofence Zones act as virtual boundaries that allow you to designate safe areas, such as your home or yard, directly within the app. Their primary use is to provide instant alerts, notifying you immediately via push notification if your pet enters or exits these specified locations.

How many geofence zones can I setup?

You can have as many Geo-Zones as you like, however you can only attach 5 Geo-zones to any one device at a time.

What is the minimum size of a geofence zone?

150 x 150 meters is the smallest Geo-zone you can create. However we have something called Wifi Zone that is intended for the Petloc8 specifically.

What is Wi-fi Zone?

The Recommended Zone to use for Petloc8. Wi-Fi Zones Create a zone around a Wi-Fi hotspot. You will receive notifications when the tracker is no longer in the vicinity of the Wi-Fi router. These zones are the most effective when using your device at home for the Petloc8

How can I buy a subscription?

You can buy a subscription through our website, where an activation code will be sent to your email after purchase. You can also purchase Petloc8 devices from Amazon with a bundled subscription, just follow the in-app instructions and the subscription will be automatically applied. If you only purchased the device, you can also buy a subscription directly through the app by following the in-app activation steps and completing the payment prompt to finish the activation process.

Can I change my form of subscription payment?

Do I have to pay import taxes and duties?

We ship all orders from our US warehouse. If you are ordering from outside the United States, please be aware that you may need to pay import taxes or customs fees (VAT) upon delivery.

Troubleshooting

My Petloc8 is not charging. What do I do?

If Petloc8’s battery is completely depleted, it can take a bit longer to reach an initial charge level. Keep Petloc8 plugged in for a few minutes until you see the steady amber light. If you’re still having trouble, please contact our support team.

How do I restart my Petloc8?

Press and hold the button for 5 seconds to power off the device. Press and hold for another 8 seconds to power it on again.

My Petloc8 is not sending location updates and not responding to the 'send beep' command from the app. What could be wrong?

There are several possibilities

- The device is off – Check if the device responds to a short button press. An LED light should flick on.
- The device is on but was offline for an extended period of time – If the App indicates that your device is Shut down, activate the ‘send beep’ command. The device should start communicating shortly.
- The device is in Battery saver mode – Battery saver mode is on and your dog is probably indoors and in the proximity of a known WiFi network. The device should resume location updates when your dog goes outside.
- The device is on but location updates are Off – Check location updates setting, it may be Off.
- The device is on but not responding to the ‘send beep’ command – Please contact our support team.

How do I unlink a device from my account?

To protect your privacy, you will need to contact our support team to remove a device from your account. Because Petloc8 is a tracking device, we do not allow users to remove devices from one account and then add them to others.
